Growing is always better together. I have teamed up with another Spiritual Director to offer experiential learning opportunities. This video will give you a great overview of what these experience are like and introduce you to both me and Holly Norton.

A 5 week online cohort growing in contemplative prayer

Join us for a 5 week virtual cohort where we’ll explore time-tested contemplative practices including Examen, Lectio Divina, Prayer of Imagination, Centering Prayer, and Lament. This is more than a class; it’s an interactive experience with space to practice, reflect, and share alongside others. Whether you are new to contemplative prayer or looking to deepen your practice, you’ll discover new ways to notice and experience God in your everyday life.

Led by Holly Norton and Dave Horne, Finding Quiet Together is a collaboration of Pilgrim Collective and Sustaining Presence. Holly and Dave are spiritual directors and friends who want to help you cultivate quiet in your life and new rhythms of prayer and connection with God. Holly is the author of Pause, a book of guided prayers, and Dave is a pastor with a gift for walking alongside others in seasons of struggle. Together they create space for stillness, presence, and discovering God in the everyday.

FAQs

  • Spiritual Direction is a practice, like counseling, which provides a space for you to reflect on your life, invite God’s presence, and pay attention to the movement of the Holy Spirit. Life gets busy and often feels challenging, spiritual direction help you discern God’s presence in the midst of your struggles and questions. The focus is less about you living for God and more about you living with God.

  • You! Anyone can experience significant transformation by slowing down and leaning on God. If you desire to grow in your walk with God, curious how to engage more with prayer, or have been disappointed in faith, then Spiritual Direction could provide the space you need for growth and healing. Receiving direction has the potential to restore a quiet confidence to your soul, grow your connection to Jesus, and increase your love for others.

  • I am a certified Spiritual Director through Sustainable Faith, an ordained minister, and have a Masters of Divinity. My ministry experience as a pastor and missionary has made me be someone who is comfortable connecting with persons from other faith traditions or who may be in a season of doubt. I have my own experience with grief, pain, and disappointment and have found that places of struggle, times of transition, and moments of grief are the perfect place for personal transformation. I meet with people at Winning at Home in the Holland/Zeeland area, at my home office in the Muskegon area, or virtually. In my free time I like to read, hike, travel, and go fast on my bike.

  • Spiritual Direction is not problem-centered like therapy nor skills-centered like mentoring/coaching. They certainly overlap, but the focus of receiving direction is developing your relationship with God and fostering a deeper understanding of yourself. The typical rhythm for Spiritual Direction is monthly; this allows for the slow and steady work of God to create new patterns in your life.
